“When we heal, the story changes. We’re not telling it from the wound anymore, we’re telling it from the healed heart.”

Katerina Ihaia from Te Puna Hauora

In this episode Katerina Ihaia shares about her path of healing and what calls us into this work.

Being witness to her mother’s passing became the catalyst that drew her into the healing arts. From there, her journey has woven through many traditions, including Māori healing, Hawai’ian bodywork, and studies in shamanic practice.

Together we reflect on her experiences as part of Ako Torowhāui: Māori Healing Training, the deep layers of grief, ancestral healing, and the ways body-based modalities can support people reconnect with lost parts of themselves.

The episode touches on trust between practitioner and client, the importance of humility on this path, and the responsibility of holding space for transformation. There is a sense throughout our conversation that healing is rarely linear, it unfolds in its own timing and in its own way.

About Katerina Ihaia

Ko Whaea Katerina taku ingoa. I am a healer, storyteller and kaitiaki of wairua-led wellbeing. My mahi weaves together the worlds of science and spirit, honouring the body as a landscape of memory, emotion and ancestral wisdom.

Through Lomi Lomi, Romiromi and the wānanga-inspired modalities, I guide others back to clarity, peace and their sacred sense of self. I carry the strength of my Tainui and Ngāpuhi whakapapa and my path has been shaped through training in Hawai‘i and Australia.

I feel deeply called to support wāhine through teaching and facilitating wānanga, creating safe spaces where women can remember their truth and stand in their mana. My purpose is simple ~ to help others come home to themselves.
